Athletic Field Reservations

McInnis Park in San Rafael offers four athletic fields – two for soccer, and two for baseball or softball. The fields are open April through October, depending on seasonal rains. All fields are closed during winter for maintenance.

Reservation Types

Advance Reservations

For leagues, game series, tournaments, camps, lessons, and special events.
Advance Reservation requests must be submitted using an online form application each season.
Groups must be in good standing, with a history of timely payments, positive field use, and adherence to policies.
Submit your request form November 1 to December 31 for the following spring/summer season, April to August.
Submit your request form April 15 to May 31 for the following fall season, September to October.

Occasional Reservations

For individuals playing casual games with friends or family.
Occasional Reservation requests must be made 10 business days in advance of the game date.

Permits

Commercial Use Permit

In addition to field reservation, a Commercial Use Permit is required for any individual or organization that collects fees or generates revenue, including classes, lessons, leagues, camps, clinics, fundraising groups. Commercial use permits are valid for one year.

Special Event Permit

In addition to field reservation, a Special Event Permit is required for single-day or one-time events that meet Parks criteria for special events. A Special Event Permit is valid for one event. Special event criteria include:

Exceeds the capacity of a single group reservation site
Makes use of multiple sites in one park at the same time
Sells tickets, food, beverages, merchandise; or any other commercial sales.
Amplified sound of any kind.
Additional tabling or amenities in the park outside the reserved site.

Review and Notification Process

Parks Field Management Team will review your field reservation request and:

Confirm field availability
Determine permit requirements
Provide payment processing instructions

Advance Reservation request and notification schedule is:

For Advance Reservation requests made November 1 to December 31 for the following spring/fall, Parks staff will notify you by February 1.
For Advance Reservation requests made April 15 to May 31 for the following fall, Parks staff will notify you by July 1.

Field time will be allocated as equitably as possible. Groups are expected to work collaboratively with Parks to resolve scheduling conflicts. Parks will maintain a waiting list for fields with multiple requests, and will make every effort to re-allocate a reserved field time if it becomes available.

Payments

All payments must be received before the field use date.
Payment may be made by credit card or check. If paying by check, please include a copy of the reservation Invoice.
